The Strange Ones

The strange ones are not a particular race but a group of monsters all unique, the same type never having been seen twice. There are two common things to the strange ones. First they all come out of the far north or the mountains of the Jagged Crags. Second, they are all incredibly powerful, killing anything and everything they come across whether it be livestock, people, or even other monsters.

The powers of the strange ones vary from one to another. They are usually very strong physically but at times have had next to no physically ability. Instead, they are highly magical in nature.

To destroy a strange one usually takes a number of powerful individuals working together. The strange ones follow no schedule to their appearances, sometimes none are seen for years. At other times, several appear a year or even several at one time scattered across the realm of Neridia.

In recent times, more of the strange ones have been appearing and doing have damage across the Grand Duchies of Morindell and Hartwell. The Adventurers’ Guild has been dealing with their appearance. Though the Guild has taken losses, they have successfully defeated all the strange ones who have recently appeared till this year.

Of late, special gates have been set up in Ayen’s Hollow and Aram’s Market which will allow unmated transport of small groups to locations throughout those Duchies in danger in order to be able to rapidly respond to appearances of strange ones.
