The Giant Rats
Neridia of late has had a rat problem. The small
creatures breed in the catacombs and recently have been coming up from
them to steal food from the warehouses and eateries of Neridia. Some
of these rats have grown much larger than their brethren to the point
where they are human in size. There seem to be several categories of
these, perhaps three in all each stronger by a measure than the one
before it.
The smallest of them could do no more damage than a
dagger wielded by a child though if it did scratch you it would sicken
you, a lightning bolt would easily kill one of these. The next could
do as much damage as a sword and would take a flame bolt to kill. The
last could damage a person perhaps twice as much as an unskilled sword
blow but would take a dragon’s breath to destroy.
These larger rats have been breeding as well and
though rarely seen outside the tunnels and catacombs beneath the city
any who go traipsing about down beneath Neridia’s Gate should beware
of these.
